⚖ī¸Fair Distribution

What is a Fair Distribution?

The key to get the most out of Realms rests on how you distribute coins to your community. We offer an automatic and customizable distribution mechanism that gives citizens the ability to distribute new coins amongst each other, relative to their coin holdings.

How does it work?

  1. Administrator creates a distribution round with a total amount of coins to be minted by end of round.

  2. Administrator starts the round, total amount of coins to be distributed are converted to "likes", which represent tips citizens can give away to others by emoji or by discord commands.

  3. Likes are distributed pro rata based on relative coin holdings for all citizens at the time the distribution starts.

  4. Citizens must give away likes to others (not themselves), based on their own judgement or direction from the realm.

  5. Once the round ends distributed likes are converted to coins at a 1 to 1 ratio. Any undistributed likes are removed from individuals accounts and do not go towards minting coins.

Principles of a Fair Distribution

A fair distribution assumes that coins represent standing, or power, in the realm. This means those with more coins have judgments that are weighed more heavily in the community. During a fair distribution, Realms gives citizens the ability to distribute "likes" to their peers relative to their respective coin holdings. This means those with a higher coin balance are given more likes to distribute, which influences the final coin distribution.

Why Use a Fair Distribution?

Fair distributions create incentives to be good to your neighbor and also advertise the good you are doing for the realm.

  1. Distributing coins among a large community is time consuming for an individual or small group, save time by delegating this process amongst all your citizens.

  2. Realms administrators may not see all important contributions, this allows the wisdom of the crowd to participate in recognizing these contributors that might be otherwise missed.

  3. Giving the community the ability to "like" others makes it more fun and engaging and helps build relationships and ensure citizen retention.

  4. Ensure you never miss important contributions by setting up a regular distribution schedule. Your community will always be able to show appreciation for other's work.

  5. Fair distributions promote interaction, feedback and value creation between community members because "liking" is a subjective and interpersonal process.
